Detail

This is genuinely more of a conceptual idea; I haven't used CDs much for years - I still buy some (even if just for the artwork), but they get ripped to disk - the rest of my music is other digital format. Once a year I want some nostalgia and hook up my old Meridian CD and a turntable - they sound good when you want nostalgia. But I don't listen much to CDs anymore.

The design is a creative idea. That said,  it is realisable; the drawer-mounted display is a Broadcom LED matrix, the transport is from TEAC. Control electronics to make CD work in 2020 is not a huge conceptual leap.

User control is simple and intuitive, via a rotary dial and four buttons. A short press of the dial toggles between Play/Pause. A long press toggles unit power (On and Standby). Rotating the dial shuffles through tracks. The remaining four buttons allow track seek, Stop and Eject. Pushing the CD draw while open also closes it.
